Many of the people who wish to live this experience ask themselves questions before visiting us. That is why we answer the most frequent ones to clarify as many doubts as possible and clear the doubts before appreciating the best view of the capital through the Funicular Santiago.

Questions about the Santiago Funicular Railway

What days is it open?

The funicular opens at 1:00 p.m. on Mondays and 10:00 a.m. Tuesday through Sunday. During the summer it closes every day at 8:00 p.m. and during the winter at 7:00 p.m. We are closed the first Monday of every month.

Can I pay with a debit or credit card?

Yes. Tickets can be purchased at the ticket window with a debit card, credit card or cash. If paying in cash, please note that only Chilean pesos are accepted.

How long is the ride?

The ride lasts approximately 5 minutes one way.

Can children in strollers ride the funicular?

At the present time, we are not equipped to provide access for strollers. We recommend that you carry your child in your arms throughout the ride.

Are children allowed to ride on their own?

No. For each minor, a responsible adult must go during the trip in the Funicular Santiago.

Up until what age do children pay a reduced fare?

From 3 to 12 years old they pay a child rate.

Can a person in a wheelchair ride the funicular or cable car?

Por el momento no contamos con ascensores para esta solicitud. Recomendamos llevar al niño en brazos durante la experiencia.

Can I get off at any station?

Yes. It depends upon which ticket you purchase. The funicular only stops at the National Zoo Station on the way up from Pio Nono Station to Cumbre Station.

Does the cable car still operate when it is raining?

Yes. You can enjoy the cable car when it is raining as long as the weather forecast does not include thunderstorms.

Can I take my pet with me?

For the safety of these beloved family members and other visitors, no pets of any kind are allowed. We cannot predict how they might react high above the ground inside a cabin with strangers. Additionally, we cannot provide safe zones for them.
* They can enter with certificate of emotional assistance and / or guide dogs.

Can I take the Funicular to the Zoo?

Yes. Just take the funicular up from Pio Nono.

Can I take photos?

You may take as many photos as you wish as long as you do not stick your hand out of the window. For your safety, please keep all cameras, phones and hands inside the car to avoid possible accidents.
